I recently read on a beer flyer that a kaiser once said, "Give me a woman who loves beer, and I will conquer." Hey, I don't know if beer flyers are a very accurate source of historical information, but seeing as I don't read books or much of anything beyond beer labels and tequila ads, I'll take it as a fact.
I'm gonna be honest with all you kaiser wannabes - I'm your woman. I love beer. More specifically, I love good beer. And, in the name of conquering bad beer, we're gonna celebrate some good Boulder beers.
First of all, those crazy folks over at Avery Brewing have just put out another beer - an Oktoberfest brew called, appropriately enough, the Kaiser. It's gonna be fresh in stores next week, and remember to look for it in the 22-ounce section - this beer comes in large sizes only.
I headed down to the brewery last week to give it a taste test, and it's by far the most flavorful Oktoberfest beer I've ever downed. Which makes sense, because it's an "imperial" Oktoberfest, which means it takes the traditional malts and hops used to create the beer and doubles the ingredients for a much stronger flavor. Pick up a Kaiser now, because those brewers at Avery are big teases and just leave their beer on the shelves for a little while - they told me it'll just last through October. By that time they'll have slapped their next beer on the shelves - the Beast 2.0, which is ... drum roll ... 18 percent alcohol.
